Forbes and Bloomberg identify Blair Parry-Okeden as a granddaughter of James M. Cox, the newspaper publisher and former Ohio governor whose business became Cox Enterprises. Both publications connect her reported wealth to an ownership interest inherited through her mother, Barbara Cox Anthony.
Forbes reports that Parry-Okeden inherited a 25% stake in Cox Enterprises in 2007 after her mother’s death. Bloomberg describes the interest as “almost 25%” and says its ownership analysis relies on court documents and a company disclosure concerning equal stakes held by the two owner families. Forbes reports that Parry-Okeden grew up in Hawaiʻi, studied at the University of Denver, worked as a teacher, and published the children’s book Down by the Gate in 1989. A 2007 Honolulu Advertiser report likewise described her as having become a teacher and written a children’s book.
